C&M Welcomes Teens for Job Shadow Day
C&M Auto helped local teenagers explore possible career paths as part of the Fifth Annual Job Shadow Day. The program, co-hosted by the Niles Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Niles Teen Center, gives teens an inside look at the business world and shows them how their education can lead to a promising future.
Teens were matched with businesses based on their skills and interests, and we were excited to give ours an idea of what it’s like to work at a service center and in the auto industry in general. Michael Krone, an eighth grader who shadowed at C&M, said that he liked “to see the car being worked on in the shop and all the tools used.”

C&M’s Pete Raucci is a World Class Technician
C&M is honored that one of our talented technicians, Pete Raucci, has achieved the distinction of World Class Technician from the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA). The World Class Technician award is given to professionals who have attained certification in all 22 of the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) specialty areas. Pete is one of the few who can truly say that he knows cars from top to bottom and one of the few technicians who reaches this level. Out of the more than 850,000 automotive technicians working in the United States, less than 20 qualify for this honor each year. Says Kathleen Schmatz, AAIA president and CEO, “The AAIA World Class Technician Award is for automotive diagnostic and repair professionals what the Super Bowl is for professional football players.”Congratulations, Pete! We’ve known for years that you’re world class, and we’re thrilled that the AAIA has made it official.

Top Gun Winners
Every year, the Automotive Service Expo hosts Top Gun Technician Competitions to single out the most knowledgeable auto technicians in each region. This year, C&M Auto Service is proud to have accomplished a rare feat, spawning 2 of the top 5 finalists at the Wisconsin Tech Expo—Timothy Sennett and Peter Raucci, who went on to take the title! To become a finalist in this highly-competitive competition, technicians must first survive two rigorous rounds testing. The 60-minute, invitation-only exams test the technicians’ technical knowledge, narrowing the field dramatically from 168 hopefuls down to the coveted “Final 5.” From there, finalists go head-to-head at the “Final 5 Competition” – a live and challenging game show that ultimately determines the region’s top automotive expert. At C&M Auto, however, we don’t just think of it as winning a competition. We think of it as practice, so we’re ready to answer your toughest automotive questions! To ask our experts your questions, and to find out how we can add value to your vehicle, contact us today at 847.724.6311 or email us at [email protected]. We’re ready to put our knowledge to use for you!
Webelos Field Trip
C&M Auto led a special car tutorial for the Webelos II Cub Scouts of Pack 175. The C&M staff taught the Scouts all the basics of car care, from changing the oil to changing a tire. The Scouts earned Handyman pins for their efforts and, of course, had a blast.
Charity Cars Campaign
The Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Charity Cars campaign donates completely refurbished cars to domestic abuse victims. The cars provide the recipients with reliable transportation, allowing them to start rebuilding their lives. The nationwide program is thought to be the largest, single, charitable donation to victims of domestic violence. C&M Auto donated a 1995 Chrysler Cirrus LX on September 19, 2007, and contributed 16 hours of labor to make the car street-worthy.
4th Of July Parade
C&M participated in Glenview’s 2007 Independence Day Parade. As they disturbed candy along the crowd line, C&M employees and family members were greeted by friends, current clients, and many who became clients.
